I am leaving on a jet plane tomorrow....

My friends,

I shall be leaving on a jet plane tomorrow to the frozen tundra of southwest Wisconsin to spend this blessed time with my family. This is my favorite time of year.

It has been an absolutely incredible year! I have taught about 1000 Pilates, Yoga, Pylata, and Spinning classes, filmed about 100 workout videos, sold thousands of workout DVDs, created 2 Podcasts that are building a large international audience, and appeared in 2 major films. All in all a very blessed year. I relish working with thousands of wonderful people who want to live better. That is a noble goal.

I am celebrating my 5th year of being the Pilates and Yoga instructor for Walt Disney World! In addition to teaching at Disney you will find me teaching at Golds, Anytime Fitness, Celebration Health, Platinum Dance Academy, Artisan Park Clubhouse, Celebration School, and Celebration Town Hall.

I never take anything for granted and I will work harder than any fitness instructor has dreamed to bring pure fitness to the world. Dream big and live big!

I look forward to an amazing 2011 full of endless possibilities for fitness, joy, sarcasm, singing, and MST3K!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Sean Vigue!

Linus Van Pelt: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"
[Linus picks up his blanket and walks back towards Charlie Brown]

Why men MUST do Pilates.

Pilates Core strengthening and Stretching principles are a great way to regain flexibility and treat many of the injuries, misalignments and bad habits that men frequently impose on themselves.

Wild week of life-changing classes!

It is officially "hump day" and I am recovering before heading out to teach Power Pilates at Disney University. I love teaching at D.U. because I can see Cinderella's Castle while I instruct 18 awesome Cast Members in the fine art of the Pilates Method. Then I am off to teach Yogalates at the Artisan Park Clubhouse in Celebration, Florida. Life is grand.

It was Super Tuesday yesterday as I like to call it. Tuesdays are my Disney and Golds day. Pilates at Disney and Golds and then back to Golds for Power Yoga. Power Yoga is my most favorite class to teach because it really keeps me on my toes (literally!). Tuesday classes are always very crowded and fights break out over floor space. I get to mediate as I run them through Vinyasa Flows and Rollovers. Love it! Last night in Yoga we did some intense Crow with a series of Boats/Balancing Bears. If you don't do Yoga that sounds very strange. If you practice Yoga you know how much fun this can be!

My web page www.motleyfitness.com is getting a new look. Check it out! It is still under construction but we are gearing up to take it to the next HUGE level. I must offer what I have to the entire world. It must not be kept a secret...that would be just too sad.

So classes are rocking, people are getting stronger and leaner, DVDs are selling at a brisk pace, and my father is in town...life is amazing.

Contact me with any questions and remember to come to my classes when you visit Orlando, Florida.

See you in class!

Sean is going to Montana!

I shall be gone for 8 days to take a much needed vacation with Fitness Model Jillian and the amazing mountains of northwest Montana!

I might be teaching while I am there and will for sure film some workout videos amongst the mountains.

It will be so great to be among mountains, rivers, bears, and big sky for a change. Central Florida in the summer can really wear you down. So can sand paper.

So after 3 straight months of teaching, filming, driving, editing, promoting, singing, and punching I am off to find my soul again...

See you soon!

Wild fitness Tuesdays!

Wild fitness Tuesdays!! Love my Tuesdays because it is full of crazy Yoga and Pilates classes that are always PACKED and explode with positive energy. The energy in these classes is sooooo powerful...we spend an hour flooding your mind/body/spirit with billions of positive signals from your brain. Think of it as mainlining fitness directly into your soul. No committees and no waiting in line to use a machine or weights. We do it RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW and you leave feeling and looking amazing.

I taught a wild morning Power Pilates class at Golds Gym Dr. Phillips (Globo Gym) with over 60 people attending. I began the matwork in Downdog which threw everyone off...in a good way. I believe in constantly throwing new sequences and exercises into my classes to keep it fresh and oh so effective. Once your mind knows what is coming next your body starts to shut down. No good. That's why pre-choreographed classes become very stale very quickly. Take them a couple times and you know what comes next...your mind becomes bored and so does your body. Where your mind goes so goes your body. Connected. Linked. Married. Anyway...class was very exciting (especially when Mombassa from the movie Inception came on. Great tune!) Hit some severe ab work and kept moving them all over their mats to hit from all sides. Finished with a lovely cool down complete with classical piano and they left taller, leaner, and sexier. That's fitness! I watched members who didn't attend class leave...hunched over, upset, stiff...ah the American version of "fitness" is still lifting heavy weights really fast. We must change that perception as we have enough people with severe joint and back problems.

Traveled to Disney World's Feature Animation Building to knock them around with Pilates and sarcasm. Love my Disney Cast Members and have been teaching Yoga and Pilates for Disney going on 5 years now. After over 1300 classes it is always still fresh and exciting! Lots of people. Lots of abs. Lots of stretches. Lots of fun. It's fun to know every second of the class is spent doing something so good for your health. Not a second is wasted. Cool down. Bye bye.

Drove back to Golds for my Power yoga class (my favorite class of the week). On time. Quick study of my notes in the stretching room and received odd glances from those stretching. They were probably admiring my sexy posture. Class was a hoot! Over 50 people who want to improve their lives on every level and I made sure to give them plenty to do. Flows, balance poses, couple new sequences to keep it interesting, and plenty of Depeche Mode. All in all a great time. Meditation was all about blue skies and soft grass. Namaste'. Chatted with many of the members. Such interesting and diverse people from all over the world and even Kansas!

Whew...didn't expect to write that much. Tomorrow I will do all this and more at different locations as well as filming a new workout series fro my soon to be offered Downloads! All in a days work for Mr. Fitness.

Have a nice evening! See you in class or at Target.

Go to my page www.motleyfitness.com and order your own workout DVDs!

“Home of Pylata workouts!”

Your glorious and just fitness quest has begun!

We are on a lifelong quest to improve our health! Let me assist you with this noble and glorious quest.

I was watching my Disney clients leave Pilates class on Friday and noticing many things...

1) They were either smiling or laughing. I have never seen a client leave upset, annoyed, or distracted.

2) They are standing very tall. When they walk in their posture is slouching as the weight of the day presses down but by the end of class all of that has been obliterated and they leave standing tall and loose.

3) Our discussions after class are very engaging and invigorating because all the distractions and useless stresses have been eliminated...I feel they are much more their true selves after releasing the garbage that holds them back. Great chats after class ...always!

4) Confidence! You can read it in their faces, how they move, and how they walk out the door. Gaining control of your health and your body is one of the greatest (if not greatest) joys of life! God smiles down upon you when this happens. Celebrate and appreciate life with a healthy, vital body and mind.

Come to class and see how many (if not all) of these things happen to you!

I teach to enrich lives on every level..this is serious stuff and should never be taken lightly.

Feel and look awesome after every class! Go to http://motleyfitness.com/motleyfitness/Class_Schedule.html to come to my many Pilates, Yoga, Yogalates, and Spinning classes in Orlando, Florida!

Pylata is coming to conquer and devour your fitness soul!

I cannot say enough about how excited I am about Pylata workouts! Pylata is my (Sean Vigue) advanced and extreme creation and aims to get serious athletes toned, stretched, and incredibly ripped in under 20 minutes.

What is Pylata?

Watch the preview here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cift7smaco

Combine the Core blasting of Pilates with the interval intensity of Tabata and end with a soothing Yoga cool down. All in under 20 minutes. No weights and no machines. I want you to be able to workout anywhere at anytime. Heck you don't even need a mat as you can see in my Pylata workouts at the football field. The movements are natural and flowing so not a second is wasted. Time and your health are precious so let's not squander either.

Six intense, full body Pylata workouts have been filmed and will be available next week on 1 DVD! Think of this offering as Phase 1. There is so much more coming that I can barely sleep at night!

Who has an hour-and-a-half to workout and jump around their living room?? Who does?? Give me under 20 minutes and you will feel and look so much better (not to mention younger and sexier).

What more could you ask for?

Stay tuned for the fitness event of the century!

When in Orlando, Florida come to my many Pilates, Yoga, Yogalates, and Spinning classes! Go to www.motleyfitness.com and click on Schedule to see my full class schedule. All levels welcome and all shall benefit. I am the Pilates and Yogalates instructor for Disney World through Cast Activities.

Big Tuesday of teaching, singing, and stretching....

Another great day of teaching group fitness classes in Orlando, Florida! I won't bore you with all the small details but the classes ran smooth and everyone left looking and feeling better than when they walked through the door.

Taught Pilates at Golds this morning...a little sleepy. Damn lawn care people! I swear that everyday a different house in my neighborhood has it's grass cut. The grass grows so fast that they begin cutting right after they finish cutting. Make sense? Anyways...class was great! I pulled back a little. My mind has been on my advanced Pylata videos lately so my live classes have taken a more intense tone. So this morning I still beat them silly but made sure to add plenty of stretching. Stretching is the best! Do it and do it often to feel 18 years old all year round. Had about 50 people in class.

Returned to Golds this evening to teach my favorite class of the week: Power Yoga. Packed class. Think we hit 60. No space available. Made a new music mix that ranges from Arcade Fire to Enya to Depeche Mode (the best!). Even added this cool theme from the movie Inception. Lots of flows and introduced them to the Super Plank. Tough as shit! Ended with a beautiful cool down and Namaste'! Great people. All left feeling released and stretched and walked past guys in the gym lifted heavy weights with bad form. God bless Yoga and Pilates...and Pylata!

Long walk after. Good stuff. Mr. Fitness is tired.

See you in class!

Eat apples. Drink water. Watch MST3K. Can't go wrong with these things.

I have an addiction to teaching and filming fitness. Help me!

I am pretty much addicted to teaching group fitness and creating, filming, editing, and offering fitness DVDs, Podcasts, videos, Apps, etc.. I can’t stop! I have a problem!

The more I do the more I want to do. Working in the fitness field is just so damn amazing, rewarding, awesome (insert more appreciative words here)...There is nothing I would rather spend my time on then people who want to improve their lives on every level. They put their trust in me and I always strive to earn that trust.

At the end of the day it is us, God, and our health. Combine the three and life is just capitol.

Just taught a full Candlelight Yoga class at Platinum Dance Academy. Good times. That class is my baby! Been creating and executing it for over 2 years now. Very proud of everyone who has stuck with it and reaped the amazing benefits.

Big Pilates class at Golds in the morning. Must study and rest. It never stops. This country is horribly out-of-shape and I plan to do something about it!

See you in class!

Not a fan of quotes but this one makes my toes curl it's so awesome!

The picture above is me running from the law for teaching too many fitness classes and too many people!

"Make time for exercise or make time for illness."

Not sure exactly who said this but it rings such profound truth. Every person on the planet must take heed of this quote. Keep your bodies moving. Don’t eat Pop Tarts for breakfast and for the love of God...don’t eat the Bloomin’ Onion from Outback Steakhouse...or Chile’s Baby Back Ribs. The ribs have about 174 grams of fat in 1 serving. Boy that will make you look hot and sexy!

Anyways...see you real soon!

Making a new mix of rock and Pylata..!

Making a music mix for live fitness classes in an art form. Some of my mixes are legendary and can change humanity while others can bring down entire civilizations. This is some pretty serious stuff! I am making a very eclectic mix this evening to be used at Golds in the morning for my Power Pilates class. I have The Guess Who right next to Lady Gaga. Gotta mix it up plenty and keep people guessing...just like with the workouts. Mind and body must always be fresh. If they are not then you might as well fold it up, pack it in and devote your life to non fitness endeavors such as painting fences and polishing pencils.

Taught at Disney World tonight at the Feature Animation Building. Lots of fun! Smaller class because it's the end of this session so I could really throw some Pilates love at them. Lots of shaking, sweating, and cursing my beloved name. Pretty standard actually. Sweating and cursing. God love em!

Pylata workout DVD coming next week! Advanced under 20 minute workouts combing Pilates and Tabata with a Yoga cool down. The first DVD will contain 4-5 under 20 minute workouts that will make everything else you have done feel like crawling. These move FAST! They hit every muscle and require no weights or machines. Pylata is going to be HUGE. The world is so hungry for this and I shall deliver to the best of my abilities as a fitness instructor and Leo.

Love working with people and seeing them become healthier on every level. Our physical health is all we have when everything is stripped away. That and God. How you treat your body is YOUR choice. Always has been and alway will be. Practice true health care. Take charge and look and feel better after every class. You get the idea (-:

So much to do and so little time!

See you in class!

Blogging is back! Pylata is here!

I have been so busy teaching, filming, editing, creating, mingling, strutting, singing, and hovering lately that my Blog has slipped a little. Not to worry...I shall be blogging much more often about all my exciting (and sometimes bland) fitness adventures. Yay! Cue trumpet...

Finishing up my last week at Disney World teaching Pilates and Yoga. I do eight-week sessions and this is the eighth week so we will have one week off...and then start up again. I have taught over 1400 Pilates and Yoga classes for Walt Disney World and am proud to be their go to Pilates and Yoga guy for Cast Members. Great gig. Great company. Great people. Sign-up now if you are a Cast Member.

Pylata is my newest fitness creation and will be hitting shelves and your DVD player next week! These are very advanced workouts combining Pilates and Tabata with a Yoga cool down. You saw it here first.

Taught an exciting Pilates class at Disney University tonight followed by Yogalates at the Artisan Park Clubhouse in Disney’s town of Celebration, Florida! GOOD TIMES.

Song of the day: Lift me Up by Moby. Great for Yoga.

Big Tuesday of Pilates and Yoga classes

I love Tuesdays! I get to teach several classes between Walt Disney World and Golds Gym Dr. Phillips and the people are always jacked to be there.

Taught Pilates at Golds this morning for a class of 48 people. Wore my lucky blue tank top which helps me flow the classes. Did lots of abs, something new called The Wiggle, and an intense Side Side and Kneeling Side Kick series. of course there was plenty of stretching with Planks and Push-ups. I LOVE Planks and Push-ups...builds character. Music: More R and B with a touch of Alanis Moriset. I know I spelled her last name wrong. I had a girlfriend in college that put Head over Feet on a mix for me...always loved that song. Cool down and bye bye.

Taught Pilates at Walt Disney's Feature Animation building. Climbed the 4 flights of stairs and beat my clients who chickened-out and took the elevator. Wimps. Lots of abs. Full class. Did a whole swimming series and killed ourselves with the shoulder touch plank. Come to my classes and I will show you. Lots of stretching. Coll down. Bye bye.

Drove to Golds for my Power Yoga class. Early. Quick study of things but keep seeing people I know so we chat. Sean loves to chat! Yoga at Golds is a trip! Lots of great energy and we always pack at least 50 in the room. Introduced The Scorpion Hover and their lives will never be the same. Lots of flows. New music mix with lots of The beloved. Good group. Some Depeche Mode snuck in there too. Bows. Triangles. Half Moons. It was a Yoga frenzy. Meditation. Namaste'! Chatted after. So cool to meet people from all over the world who love taking care of themselves.

Typical teaching day for me...

See you next time.

Motley Fitness is the present and future of fitness. REAL fitness.

Photo above is from the Motley Fitness German promo series. Got Core?

Why do we spend gobs of money on your lawn, car, clothes, food, jewelry, and house and neglect our most important asset: our health? This thought runs through my head as I take my cherished night walks in my town. Beautiful homes are everywhere with perfectly manicured lawns and a fancy BMW sitting in the driveway. Then...the owner comes out walking their little dog only about 10 feet. The owner is obese, hunched over, grunting, and breathing heavy. So sad.

What is the point really? Everything else is superficial next to your health and I don't know about you but I plan to live to at least 100. I want to help people realize that they can look and feel great NOW and for the rest of their life. Put it in perspective. Honor your body by giving it what it craves. You can't drive your BMW without gas and proper maintenance so why treat your body any different?

Motley Fitness continues to astound the fitness world by offering top-notch, life-changing live classes and a full (and growing) line of workout DVDs! The Army is now doing Pilates!

This is a great article about the importance of a strong, balanced Core and all that you can do with it! Without a strong center your whole body suffers and rots. Keep your Core strong and fit and the world is yours!!

FORT JACKSON, S.C. – New soldiers are grunting through the kind of stretches and twists found in "ab blaster" classes at suburban gyms as the Army revamps its basic training regimen for the first time in three decades.
Heeding the advice of Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans, commanders are dropping five-mile runs and bayonet drills in favor of zigzag sprints and exercises that hone core muscles. Battlefield sergeants say that's the kind of fitness needed to dodge across alleys, walk patrol with heavy packs and body armor or haul a buddy out of a burning vehicle.
Trainers also want to toughen recruits who are often more familiar with Facebook than fistfights.
"Soldiers need to be able to move quickly under load, to be mobile under load, with your body armor, your weapons and your helmet, in a stressful situation," said Frank Palkoska, head of the Army's Fitness School at Fort Jackson, which has worked several years on overhauling the regime.
"We geared all of our calisthenics, all of our running movements, all of our warrior skills, so soldiers can become stronger, more powerful and more speed driven," Palkoska said. The exercises are part of the first major overhaul in Army basic fitness training since men and women began training together in 1980, he said.
The new plan is being expanded this month at the Army's four other basic training installations — Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Fort Sill, Okla., Fort Benning, Ga., and Fort Knox, Ky.
Drill sergeants with experience in the current wars are credited with urging the Army to change training, in particular to build up core muscle strength. One of them is 1st Sgt. Michael Todd, a veteran of seven deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
On a recent training day Todd was spinning recruits around to give them the feel of rolling out of a tumbled Humvee. Then he tossed on the ground pugil sticks made of plastic pipe and foam, forcing trainees to crawl for their weapons before they pounded away on each other.
"They have to understand hand-to-hand combat, to use something other than their weapon, a piece of wood, a knife, anything they can pick up," Todd said.
The new training also uses "more calisthenics to build core body power, strength and agility," Palkoska said in an office bedecked with 60-year-old black and white photos of World War II-era mass exercise drills. Over the 10 weeks of basic, a strict schedule of exercises is done on a varied sequence of days so muscles rest, recover and strengthen.
Another aim is to toughen recruits from a more obese and sedentary generation, trainers said.
Many recruits didn't have physical education in elementary, middle or high school and therefore tend to lack bone and muscle strength. When they ditch diets replete with soda and fast food for healthier meals and physical training, they drop excess weight and build stronger muscles and denser bones, Palkoska said.
Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling of the Army's Training and Doctrine Command, the three-star general in charge of revamping all aspects of initial training, said his overall goal is to drop outmoded drills and focus on what soldiers need today and in the future.
Bayonet drills had continued for decades, even though soldiers no longer carry the blades on their automatic rifles. Hertling ordered the drills dropped.
"We have to make the training relevant to the conditions on the modern battlefield," Hertling said during a visit to Fort Jackson in January.
The general said the current generation has computer skills and a knowledge base vital to a modern fighting force. He foresees soldiers using specially equipped cell phones to retrieve information on the battlefield to help repair a truck or carry out an emergency lifesaving medical technique.
But they need to learn how to fight.
"Most of these soldiers have never been in a fistfight or any kind of a physical confrontation. They are stunned when they get smacked in the face," said Capt. Scott Sewell, overseeing almost 190 trainees in their third week of training. "We are trying to get them to act, to think like warriors."
For hours, Sewell and his drill sergeants urge on helmeted trainees as they whale away at each other with pugil sticks, landing head and body blows until one falls flat on the ground. As a victor slams away at his flattened foe, a drill sergeant whistles the fight to a halt.
"This is the funnest day I've had since I've been here!" said 21-year-old Pvt. Brendon Rhyne, of Rutherford County, N.C., after being beaten to the ground. "It makes you physically tough. Builds you up on the insides mentally, too."
The Marine Corps is also applying war lessons to its physical training, adopting a new combat fitness test that replicates the rigor of combat. The test, which is required once a year, has Marines running sprints, lifting 30-pound ammunition cans over their heads for a couple of minutes and completing a 300-yard obstacle course that includes carrying a mock wounded Marine and throwing a mock grenade.
Capt. Kenny Fleming, a 10-year-Army veteran looking after a group of Fort Jackson trainees, said men and women learn exercises that prepare them to do something on the battlefield such as throw a grenade, or lunge and pick a buddy off the ground. Experience in Iraq has shown that women need the same skills because they come under fire, too, even if they are formally barred from combat roles.
"All their exercises are related to something they will do out in the field," Fleming said, pointing out "back bridge" exercises designed to hone abdominal muscles where soldiers lift hips and one leg off the ground and hold it steady.
"This will help their core muscles, which they could use when they stabilize their body for shooting their weapon, or any kind of lifting, pulling, or something like grabbing a buddy out of a tank hatch," Fleming said.
Fleming said those who had some sort of sports in high school can easily pick up on the training, while those who didn't have to be brought along. One hefty soldier in a recent company he trained dropped 45 pounds and learned to blast out 100 push-ups and 70 sit-ups, he said.
"We just have to take the soldier who's used to sitting on the couch playing video games and get them out there to do it," Fleming said.
Associated Press writer Kevin Maurer contributed to this report from Wilmington, N.C.

Walking at night

I LOVE to walk at night. There is something so peaceful and exciting about grabbing my MP3 player, taking a big swig of water and setting out on a journey for an hour or two. The town where I live is ideal for walking because it is all residential except for the downtown area. There are several "neighborhoods" within the town and they all have unique features so depending how I feel I will trek to one of them to appreciate what each one has to offer. The music adds a soundtract while you move through the still night...only your footsteps making sound.

Henry David Thoreau said this of walking, "We should go forth on the shortest walk, perchance, in the spirit of undying adventure, never to return,-prepared to send back our embalmed hearts only as relics to our desolate kingdoms." This is a pretty bold passage but it does capture how walks must be seen as an adventure. As in life it is the unexpected that truly inspires and moves us. Granted in Celebration, Florida where I live I know I will return home at the end of my walk but setting out on a different course every night keeps it fresh and fun. It keeps the mind and the body inspired. Without these two things connecting life is but an empty shell.

So when you go for your next walk go with the spirit of adventure in your heart. Go with pride. Go with passion in your soul. Be bold...and look both ways when crossing the street.
